The first year of living in Palmy was hard. I cried a lot... I wanted to be somewhere else.. I mean you've heard the things people say about Palmy right?!

If you don't know where it is it's a Uni town of about 78,000 people in the Manawatu, A 1.5 hour drive to Wellington & 2 hours to Hawkes Bay. It rains ALOT! (Although Summer this year has been great to us).

Year 2 of living in Palmy I decided to get my head in the game & really be here instead of thinking about the other places I wanted to be. If I was going to be in this town for a while longer ( or forever) I really needed to BE HERE!

That's when I put my head down & got stuck in.

I joined community groups, went to local events, made like minded friends and said yes to the opportunities that came my way. It wasn't easy BUT before I knew it I had roots binding me to Palmy that now make it hard to think of leaving.

I was talking to my friend in London recently who said people make jokes when she tells them she came from Palmerston North and how it's such a hole... to which she responds 'I love it'.

She, like me, knows its not the place, its what you make of it...

I absolutely LOVE where I live.

I love my life & all of the things in it.

I love having a 7 minute drive to work & an 11 minute drive to my boyfriends house.

I love that I can spend the whole day watching tv, not feeling bad because it's most likely terrible weather outside so I am not missing out haha.

I love that I can go to the supermarket & not feel judged for my outfit choice or messy hair because no one cares ( even if they did - I don't ).

It's so affordable to live here that you can actually get ahead in life, pay for travel & even buy a house instead of struggling to get by & being a renter all your life.

Now to YOU!

Are you somewhere that you don't want to be?

Ask yourself WHY you don't want to be there?
Can you CHANGE it?
HOW can you change that?
What can you include in your life to make you hate it a little less?

It's your mission to make the most of where you are NOW!

Enjoy the journey & enjoy the process because at the end of the day the grass isn't always greener on the other side, its greener where you water it.

What do you think is ONE thing you can do NOW to be HERE?! Let me know in the comments below.
