7 ways investing in yourself will change your life

I was listening to Tony Robins on a podcast today and he mentioned this quote that lands with me so deeply and is perfect for this podcast. ''The best investment you can make is an investment in yourself''

This got me thinking, investing in yourself is money, time, and energy! 

You ARE investing in yourself right now by reading this because you spend the time and give your energy to learn and grow within yourself

If you want to improve your life, the best investment you can make is in yourself.

  1. Unlike stocks or other investments, you are guaranteed to see a return on your investment in yourself. The only thing you need to do is choose how you will invest in yourself. This might be a course to teach you a new skill, a qualification to improve your future prospects, or a workshop to help you develop and explore yourself. Whatever you decide, the next step is to commit and do the work. Then you will reap all of the rewards!

  1. Investing in yourself lowers stress and increases confidence which leads to a better overall life. For example, you may be struggling at work because you don't think you belong there. This can lead to negative feelings like stress and overwhelm, which in turn lowers your self-esteem. However, if you choose to invest in yourself instead, you can figure out what you'd rather be doing. This will lead to increased self-confidence and lower stress levels, because you'll no longer be questioning everything.

  1. When you invest in yourself, you're investing in your future. I know it can be tough to make changes in your life, but trust me, it's worth it. I transformed my life by making some simple changes and investing in myself. I changed my diet, started exercising, and began journaling and meditating. I also invested in a 12-week coaching program that completely changed my life. By the end of 2017, I was fit and healthy, happy mentally and physically, had my own business up and running with paying clients, and was in a new good relationship. If I can do it, you can too.

  1. Investing in yourself increases your productivity, makes you smarter with your time and helps you to let go of things that are not worth your energy. This creates more happiness and better relationships.

  1. A result of investing in yourself is your ability to find new opportunities. Most employers are looking for candidates who are self-starters and willing to learn new skills. Showing that you're motivated and eager to learn will help you stand out from the competition.

  1. You'll expand your professional network. The connections you make while focusing on your own growth can be invaluable. I remember meeting a guy at a free event. He told me I would love his GF and gave me her card. I did nothing with it, but a few weeks later I met her at a business mentoring session. Standing beside her, I was able to make a great impression and we've been friends ever since. 

  1. You'll be able to adapt to change easily. Change is inevitable, so it's important to be prepared for it. By investing in yourself, you're showing that you're open to change and willing to adapt to new situations. This will come in handy for those times in life when change happens unexpectedly and you have to go with the flow.

There are other ways to invest through time and energy, aside from the monetary ways I've already mentioned.

Time:

  • Your friends and family!

  • Wellbeing.

  • Exercise.

  • Healthy meals.

  • Time offline.

  • Declutter and organize.

Energy:

  • Sleep.

  • Mindset.

  • Attitude towards life and others.

  • Find a hobby!
